Mediterranean Pan Toasted Sandwich

Mediterranean Pan Toasted SandwichHere is a simple and delicious low calorie Mediterranean style sandwich recipe.

Makes two sandwiches -


  • 4 slices of whole grain bread
  • 2 slices of ham
  • 2 oz of thinly sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1 thinly sliced tomato
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh chopped basil
  • sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 peeled large clove of garlic – finely chopped

Cover two slices of the bread with the ham, mozzarella cheese, tomato, fresh basil, salt and pepper.  Top with the other two bread slices.  Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat.  Add chopped garlic and saute 3 minutes.  Add the sandwiches and cook 2 minutes on each side.  Remove sandwiches, cut in half and serve.
